All go through the rigorous multi-week certification of GOLFTEC University where they master the analysis of golf mechanics, the technology of the GOLFTEC training system, and the most productive teaching techniques.

Brienne Mahon

Originally from Massachusetts, USA, Brienne is a former mini-tour player and graduated with honors from the Golf Academy of America in 2006. He began his career with GOLFTEC in 2007 and then moved to Asia in 2016 to join the GOLFTEC Hong Kong team. Since joining GOLFTEC, he has taught over 30,000 lessons and in recognition for his accomplishments, he has received the Outstanding Achievement in Instruction Award for 2014, 2015, 2018 and 2020. As the Director of Instruction SEA, Brienne is responsible for ensuring coaches in the region are familiar with the vigorous syllabus of GOFTEC University and that they stay up to date with the latest golf instructional developments. Ikaika Saromines

Originally from Hawaii, USA Ikaika is an honors graduate of the Golf Academy of America and a class A member of the PGA of America with over 15 years of experience in the golf industry. With a passion for golf and learning, he has served as the chairman of the PGA Education Committee (Aloha Section), volunteer golf coach of Special Olympic athletes, and spearheaded several grassroots initiatives that would introduce disadvantaged youth to the game of golf. In 2015 Ikaika moved to Hong Kong to take up the post of Club Manager at Discovery Bay Golf Club where he served for over 5 years. When not teaching or playing golf, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter and going on hikes.

Steven Chen

Originally from China, Steven moved to the U.S. to further his studies and continued to live there for the next two decades. While he was studying psychology at the University of Columbia, New York in 1996, he started exploring how sports psychology can positively impact the performance of golfers, and now he applies his learnings into the betterment of his students. In 2003, the natural progression of his golf coaching career brought him to Palo Alto California, where he started working with junior golfers, with the goal of improving their overall achievements. Steven then decided to move to Hong Kong in 2014, where he continued his coaching career. When not golfing, he enjoys other sports such as skiing, swimming and yoga. Steven is fluent in both English & Mandarin.

Bally Tse

Bally first picked up golf at the age of seven. Through his dedication and passion for golf, by the age of eight, he became a member of the Elite Squad of Kau Sai Chau. The next step in Bally’s golfing career saw him joining the HKGA Elite Junior Squad from the age of 12 all the way to 18. He then moved to Canada where he gained the Canadian Golf Teaching Professional certification at the age of 20. He is also a Master Teaching Professional certified by the United States Golf Teaching Federation. In 2010, he began his coaching career and has been teaching for more than 11 years. Bally can teach golf lessons in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Michael Bygrave

Michael is a member of the British PGA as well as a qualified Stack and Tilt Network Instructor. He has previously taught over 10,000 lessons in the UK and China before moving to Hong Kong. Michael likes to focus on improving golfers driving distance, understanding of release, short game and putting, and assisting golfers to reach their long term goals. He is often found outside of work on the golf course, at the gym, or running along Hong Kong's waterfront. He is active on social media and found on YouTube as Mike Bygrave Golf and Instagram as @mb_swingworks

Originally from Cape Town South Africa, Mathew has been actively working in the Golf Industry for the past 15 years. In 2016, he moved to Florida, USA where he worked the golf courses for three years. Mathew then moved back home where he was a Golf Operations Manager for 7 years, after which he graduated from the PGA of South Africa in 2016. The following year, he ranked Top 20 when he played in the National PGA Dinners Championship. Mathew moved to Hong Kong in 2018, where he joined the GOLFTEC Team and has since taught over 3,700 lessons. As a Golf Coach Mathew believes in keeping things as simple as possible, especially when it comes to terminology as this allows his students to better understand their lessons. He is fluent in both English and Afrikaans.

Michael Owen

Michael is one of the few golf professionals holding both British PGA and PGA of America Quarter Century Member Class A qualifications. He has represented Wales and Great Britain, and has won three tournaments in Europe and USA. In 1995, he started teaching at the famed Torrey Pines Golf Course in California, where a few years later he became the lead coach at the facility. Whilst at Torrey Pines, Michael has taught a number of PGA and European Tour players including Major Champions John Daly and Rich Beem, Ryder Cup Winner Phillip Price and PGA Tour Winners Pat Perez, Robert Gomez and Jason Gore. In 2019, Michael was named one of the top three coaches in the Asia Pacific Region by the Asia Pacific Golf Association. His Instagram @hk_golf_professor has plenty of great content.

Cairn Patrick

Born in the UK, Cairn was brought up in Africa. While living in Tanzania he was actively involved in teaching orphan juniors to play golf with his coach at the time. In 2011 Cairn obtained his PGA Qualification in Belgium and is a Class A Member of the South Africa PGA. During his time in Africa, he worked towards playing in the Kenyan Open On the Sunshine Tour. He has also worked with the top Egyptian amateur. He has taught golf in countries such as Belgium, The Congo, Tanzania, Egypt and Vietnam. He joined the GOLFTEC Hong Kong Team in 2018 and has over 10,000 lessons under his belt. Besides English he can also speak Dutch and Swahili. His Instagram account is @cpgolf.hk

Joshua Martinez

Originally from the United States of America, Joshua graduated with honors from the Professional Golfers Career College with a degree in Golf Management. Joshua has been teaching golf for over 7 years now with over 8,000 lessons taught to date. He began his career in Southern California as an assistant head pro but had a desire to teach full time. He then started his career with GOLFTEC in 2016. In his first year Joshua excepted the Rookie Of The Year Award for lessons taught as well as performance within the company. Was then promoted in 2019 to Director of Instruction and Center Manager for GOLFTEC a corporate center in the states. Joshua’s passion is to simplify the process of getting better at golf by creating a comprehensive program to take you to your goals! You can find Joshua on his days off exploring Hong Kong, playing table tennis, and playing music on his guitar.
